11 Questions with muymanwell (#527301)
Department 11

1. How did you first discover Kingdom of Loathing?
Actually, I found the Kingdom in a link from someone's signature on SlashDot (http://slashdot.org), back in June of 2005. I seem to be in the minority of people who come to the Kingdom on no recommendation of friends, though I've led at least fifteen other people in since I've started.

2. What is your signature character class?
Definitely a female Disco Bandit (I always play female characters).  Disco Bandit was my first class, and the pigtails on the female character were definitely a drawing factor.  I definitely like the moxie characters, though the Accordion Thief sometimes will drive me nuts (I made the mistake of doing my first Hardcore Oxy run with an Accordion Thief).  I've tweaked my main (Muymanwell) out with most of the Seal Clubber and TT buffs and attacks though, plus a Leash of Linguini, for the familiars I have.

3. What has been your greatest accomplishment so far?
Getting the complete Radio Free Regalia was pretty nice, especially since I actually won it (The sword from ArtsyChick on the Big Meat Show [when it was on RKOL], and pants from Meranna—I think I got the hat from someone on WKOL). Being able to assist with the birth of WKOL radio was pretty big, too.

4. What, if anything, has blown up in your face?
Definitely when I made the mistake of buying pirate shirts, thinking they were some rare item, right when they first came out. I had just sold off my Crimbo Duds (after trading my RFR for them and some Mr. As and a Dreidl), and had a large number of Mr. As.  I traded a Mr. A for five pirate shirts, thinking I'd be able to turn a tidy profit, since there were only six in the mall and the lowest priced one was five million meat. Of course, then everyone got them, and boom, I realized the mistake I made.

5. What has been your most ambitious project to date?
Definitely trying to finish my terrarium. I’m only eight familiars short of a complete collection (Jill-O-Lantern, Hand Turkey, Crimbo Elfling, Baby Yeti, Emo Roe, Feather Boa, and now the two new gravy fairies, Sleazy and Spooky).  Last time I did the math, I was one billion (with a "b") meat away from getting the first six.  We're working on the recipes for the two new fairies though. A link to our discussion is: http://famcalc.booyah.org/smurfs/

Also, I'm collecting Stuffed Doppelshifters. I'm waiting for them to hit the leaderboards to see if I have the most.

6. What aspect of KoL has persistently thwarted you at every turn?
Being new in the Kingdom has made it hard to get to some of the older familiars. I've tried to use market predictions to turn a good profit, but it will definitely take a while before I can get enough meat to finish my terrarium.

7. What is the one thing you would change about KoL if you could?
Honestly, not much. Sure, I'd like the older familiars to be available again, but then what would I work towards? One thing I would definitely like to see change is either the radio chat room be a truly open place to discuss either station (even though there is minimal animosity between the DJs on the station, the listeners are another story), or a separate chat be opened for the WKOL station. If RKOL is truly the "unofficial station of KoL," then WKOL has just as much right to a separate chat.

8. What is your favorite joke or reference in KoL?
Definitely the Probability Giant. The TMBG references there always crack me up—especially nice since I'm normally getting face-stomped by some Alphabet Giant. The Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot is a close second.

9. What brings you back to KoL night after night?
The hunt for the familiars is the lasting draw. I was starting to get disheartened at the beginning of February, seeing the same 6 familiars at the top of my wanted list, and no progress made, and then the NPZR came in to the picture.  A fire was lit under me to get this new familiar, and even forced me to ascend again, after getting all of my current familiars to twenty pounds (780lbs total at the time), including my pet rock. Now, the Sleazy/Spooky Gravy Fairies has me using my turns trying to find how to make them.

10. How long do you think you will keep playing?
Honestly, I don't know that I'll be daily active in two years, but I like to think that I'd be on at least twice a week. The familiars will always incite me, as will the Mr. Store items.

11. You get to have a Jick-made custom item. What is it?
Hired Penguin: Familiar
For an amount of meat (based on level) at the end of every battle-based adventure, you get stat/item find, plus mp/hp recover . . . with recycled artwork of course.
